How are words counted?
We split your text on whitespace (spaces, tabs, line breaks) and count the resulting non-empty tokens. Punctuation does not split words.
Does the counter handle non-English languages?
Yes. Latin, accented, CJK, and emoji characters are all preserved. CJK languages without spaces will count each contiguous block as a single word — use the character counter for those scripts.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The counter runs entirely in your browser. Your text never leaves your device.
Can I use this offline?
Yes. Once the page has loaded, you can disconnect from the internet and the tool will keep working.
